TechnoLawyer’s popular TL NewsWire recently published their “Top 25 Products of 2013”. Click here to review their list of the 25 top products for law firms in 2013.

We at Eastern Legal Systems are proud to say that we either personally use or support (or both!) a selection of the products singled out by TechnoLawyer for special mention this year. Listed below are our own personal “Top 5” products from the TechnoLawyer list.

Penultimate / EverNote
This one is really a “two fer”. TechnoLawyer singled out Penultimate as its choice for note-taking on the iPad, but to us its real power and versatility come from its seamless integration with EverNote. Jot all of your handwritten notes in Penultimate, hit synch, and your note will automatically and seamlessly appear in EverNote, in notebook that you designate, ready to be reviewed and/or printed when you open EverNote. No more nerdy pocket protectors needed with this “ink-less” solution!

Clio for iPhone
We think that the new Clio app for the iPhone is one of the most well-desgned phone/tablet practice management apps we have seen so far.  Cloud-based storage is all about mobility, and this clever app allows you to have your case/practice management system with you wherever you go, in an extrremely easy to use format. The contacts and calendar do not integrate with the phone’s native calendar and contact apps, but the application is designed so well that it shouldn’t really matter.

Worldox GX3 Cloud
Worldox GX3 Cloud is a popular choice both with firms looking for the full Worldox experience in the cloud and with newcomers to document management seeking a cloud solution that will interact seamlessly with locally installed applications. For those who already use Worldox, GX3 Cloud looks and feels the same as the Professional desktop version and provides the best of Worldox document management from any computer with internet access. Eastern Legal Systems recommends this “Software as a Service” solution for firms who want their document management system and documents stored and backed up in top-tier data centers without the cost or effort of managing their own hardware. You can read more about Worldox GX3 Cloud by clicking here, to read our own review of this powerful product posted earlier in the year.

NetDocuments Professional Plus Edition 13.2
The popular NetDocuments Cloud-based document management system strengthened its already powerful set of features and capabilities this year with a much more robust integration to email for storage and search. It also released an integration option for Clio, allowing these two popular Cloud applications to communicate directly with each other. LexisNexis Time Matters 13
We’re happy to see that LexisNexis Time Matters 13 was included in the TechnoLawyer NewsWire Top 25 list for 2013, but it comes as no surprise to us. The biggest feature for this “lucky 13” version is LexisNexis’ partnership with Watchdox, to allow enterprise-level, secure document sharing.  With the Watchdox client portal now embedded in Time Matters 13, users can make confidential files available for online viewing and collaboration with clients and other authorized third parties.  This latest feature, added to centralized contact and case/matter information, links to many third-party programs, and includes the ability to customize the application in ways that promote your firm’s goals.  We at Eastern Legal Systems are proud to support this program through implementation, training and customization services.  You can click here to read more about Time Matters 13.
