TechnoLawyer readers voted Worldox™ GX4 and Amicus Attorney Premium Edition among the top 25 products of 2015.
Law firms and legal departments need document and email management and matter management and these are two powerful, time-proven solutions that keep getting better year after year. Here is why we would recommend that you seriously consider Worldox for document management and Amicus Attorney for matter and practice management.
Both Worldox GX4 and Amicus Attorney Premium Edition can operate either on premises or through hosting providers. Both of these products offer mobile solutions for lawyers on the go, and both systems are packed with features designed to improve productivity.
Worldox™ GX4 is a completely redesigned major release of the popular Worldox system used by over 6,000 law firms and legal departments worldwide. The latest version of the best-of-breed document management system provides a clean modern interface and ease of use across desktops and mobile devices.
With the new feature, “Follow Me Favorites”, Worldox remembers the profiles of your recently saved or edited documents and makes the favorites available in Outlook and in the Worldox desktop and mobile clients.
Email management, always a challenge for lawyers, is now far less of a chore in GX4 due to the new “active profiling” feature, which monitors emails and assigns client/matter information for end of day, one-click batch filing.
For executive users, the new Quick Save feature allows a means to file to Worldox without leaving the office application (Word, Excel and Adobe). The new green Worldox Quick Save button can save a file into Worldox and you can add profile information at a later time. A redesigned toolbar allows you to perform searches from within Word and Excel.
The new search bar simplifies searching by providing a single place to search documents by document ID, text (contents), description, and to filter by Extension.
You can now search for a client or matter code by the description, not just the code. As you type, Worldox will automatically display any codes and descriptions that match your search.
A favorite feature is the improved inline viewer, which makes it easy to view text of saved emails and documents from within Worldox.
Amicus Attorney Premium Edition
Shortly after Technolawyer voters gave their approval to Amicus Premium 2015, Gavel & Gown Software announced the new version, Amicus Premium 2016. The new version has expanded document management features, including version control and document previews, which are fully integrated with file management.
The most exciting feature of 2015 was the addition of Amicus Client Portals, a secure facility which allows clients to access information pertaining to their case, adds another layer of collaboration and improves the lines of communication between firm and client. The Portal is locked down so that clients see only the particular matter files and the particular Documents, Notes and Events on those files. Clients can also upload new documents and add new Notes on the files. The new version 2016 builds on the features of the earlier version to allow sharing of custom fields with clients.
For firms using Worldox, Amicus Attorney integrates with most versions, including the new GX4, and can display Worldox documents for files based on document type.
Amicus can now synchronize calendars, contacts, emails and tasks with Microsoft Exchange, including Office 365, to keep desktop and mobile calendars up to date. Amicus Anywhere is the special Amicus “app” that runs in a browser on your smartphone or tablet, allowing entry of time and access to your client and file information.
The optional Premium Billing add-on, fully integrates billing with the Amicus legal software, and the new release has been enhanced to give clients more control and customization over their bills, including split billing. Law firms now have the ability to send automated alerts when retainers have reached their limit. Billing integrates with Quickbooks, which many firms use to manage their accounting. Amicus Attorney time entry also integrates with outside billing programs.
