On the heels of its subscription-based Timeslips Premium, Sage has released version 2016 of its traditional BDE-based, permanent-license edition. Users of previous Timeslips versions will find it very familiar; in fact, they will be hard-pressed to find any substantive differences from Sage Timeslips version 2015.
So is there any point to upgrading to this new version, especially for users of version 2015? Here are some important things to know about this newest incarnation of Sage Timeslips.
- If you purchased Sage Timeslips 2015 on or after May 1, 2015, you may now be eligible, for a very limited time, to upgrade to version 2016 for either $49.00 or $25.00 per existing license, depending on your purchase date. This will most likely extend your support window with Sage for an additional year beyond what your firm currently has.
- Version 2016 is the only Timeslips BDE version supported on Windows 10 (Pro). If your firm plans to replace any workstations in the next year or so, you will very likely need Windows 10-compatible versions of all of your software.
- Upgrading from version 2015 is very straightforward, with no data conversion required.
- If you look under the Help menu and click on “What’s New,” there is no link pointing to the new version 2016 1features. There are minor enhancements and some fixes, but no real new functionality, and nothing new to learn.
- If you are on an unsupported version (currently v2013 and below), this is an opportunity to upgrade to a supported version without being tied to a subscription model such as Sage Timeslips Premium.
- Because there are so few feature changes from version 2015, v2016 is likely to be more stable than a typical new software release. If your firm is eligible, don’t miss out on the chance to upgrade to Sage Timeslips 2016 for as little as $25 per license!
