Review: TechnoLawyer Buyer’s Guide to Legal Billing Software

For those of you who do not know about TechnoLawyer (www.technolawyer.com), it is a great resource, comprised of lawyers talking to lawyers about what’s out there in the world of legal technology. On Tuesday, members were notified of the release of the service’s latest White Paper, providing a review of several legal time & billing software programs.

The paper begins with a truism: “Software exists in two varieties – must have and nice to have.” It then declares: “Legal billing software falls into the must-have category.”

What makes this paper stand out above others which deal with this topic is that it goes beyond the usual dry recitation of features. Instead, it provides a checklist of what features are desirable in a time & cost tracking, billing application – and why – and concludes with a price comparison benchmark chart that shows the cost per user broken down monthly, annually and after three years.

The partners at Eastern Legal Systems are proud to support many of the programs and applications reviewed and rated in this paper (both “native” and “cloud”), which include —

  • Amicus Premium Billing
  • Clio
  • LexisNexis Billing Matters/Time Matters
  • LexisNexis PCLaw
  • Sage Timeslips

The White Paper can be downloaded at http://www.technolawyer.com/tll/legal-billing-software.asp . If you are already a TechnoLawyer member, you can download right from this page. If not, there is a handy signup form on the page, after completing which you will be able to download the paper.

We would also be happy to discuss this paper with you and answer any questions you may have. Thinking of changing what you’re using? We can discuss that, too. Be sure to contact us at 1-877-ELS-0555.
